Grab Some Comfort ~"Secrets To A Pain Free Life" by Reza Ghorbani MD Review
Managing pain is a complex and confusing journey and "Secrets To A Pain Free Life" is giving me a lot of tools to navigate with. The author , Dr..Reza Ghorbani MD , ABIPP, FIPP is a Harvard trained pain management specialist. So I looked up his practice *click here if you want to check him out*
I was curious about the fancy letters in his title too
ABIPP- American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians
FIPP- Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice
The book "Secrets To A Pain Free Life" packs a lot of information and compassion into its relatively small size. Even some humor as there are quite a few cartoon panels. I was especially pleased to find recipes containing pain fighting herbs ~ especially turmeric! I knew turmeric was good for pain and look for it in prepared mustard and recently noticed it as an ingredient in Mahatma brand yellow rice. I was telling Mike (the owner of the gym I go to) about the rice and joked about not having any other recipes having turmeric in them - you never hear about Turmeric Chicken! Lo and behold there is a whole chapter devoted to turmeric in the book. There are several chapters containing natural pain fighting herbs starting with their histories .
I also like how he includes references to his sources at the end of every chapter - you can use them for future references if you want to delve deeper into a particular subject.
He also throws in little facts - such as aspirin has never been approved by the FDA (it was grandfathered in) and that Lucille Ball had rheumatoid arthritis and raised awareness about the disease.
Dr.Ghorbani is also an inventor and created Noxicare, a natural pain relief cream which I reviewed in an earlier blog post. His father was a pharmacologist "whose tools were state-of the art medicines" and he states in his book that in their home medicine cabinet "I saw something very different: herbs and plant extracts that have been used for centuries to treat everything from constipation to cancer." My opinion is he saw a need for this product so he created it! Clever man :D
The reader who won the product said this about Noxicare
"I received the Noxicare and am happy to say I am loving it! The best part is not having to take pills when I get home from work with back pain. Thanks again for introducing me to this natural product through your giveaway!
